Welcome to Miles & Reverie

One of the greatest lessons travel has taught me is to get comfortable being uncomfortable.  At first it feels stressful, then it gets easier, and eventually it becomes fun.  Before turning 18 months old, our daughter had already been on nearly 30 flights. I used to obsess over flight times, coordinating nap schedules, and the possibility of a mid-flight meltdown, but I've learned that children are often far more adaptable than we give them credit for.  On Mother's Day weekend, after a hectic week of work and last-minute packing, we loaded our daughter into the car at 3 a.m. in her pajamas and headed to the airport. Armed with what we jokingly call our "airport charcuterie" and a healthy dose of optimism, we made our way to Denver. A few hours later, as the Rocky Mountains appeared outside our window, the chaos of the week seemed to melt away. We spent the day lingering over breakfast, exploring an aquarium, and winding our way toward Estes Park. It's always amazing how quickly travel can quiet the noise of everyday life and remind you why the effort is worth it.

I'm an East Coast girlie at heart, currently living in North Carolina with my husband, our daughter, and our two Aussie Labs. We're an Army family preparing for our first move out West, and I'm already dreaming about the adventures waiting for us there.

I've always been someone who lives for the next adventure, whether it's a weekend road trip, a new hiking trail, or a flight to somewhere I've never been before. When I became a mom, I quickly realized that I wanted to show my daughter the world just as much as I wanted to experience it myself. I want her to grow up finding beauty in different landscapes, cultures, and ways of life. More importantly, I want her to feel confident exploring new places and comfortable being herself wherever she goes.

One of the biggest lessons motherhood has taught me is that there will never be a perfect time. Life won't suddenly slow down. The schedule won't magically clear. Finances may never feel completely ideal, and there will always be laundry waiting at home. But life is happening right now. Our daughter's childhood is happening right now. This is our one chance to make memories together before the years fly by, and I don't want to spend it waiting for someday.

Do I get stressed? Absolutely! Do I get overwhelmed trying to pack, plan, and keep everyone fed and happy? More often than I'd like to admit. But I've decided to live boldly anyway. I don't want to simply tell my daughter about the incredible things this world has to offer, I want to show her.

One of our family's goals is to visit as many National Parks as possible before our daughter graduates from high school. We're chasing passport stamps one adventure at a time, exploring the regions where we live and turning ordinary weekends into opportunities for discovery. Sometimes that means a cozy cabin, sometimes a glamping tent, and sometimes an Airbnb tucked away somewhere new.

Through Miles & Reverie, I hope to share travel tips, family adventures, National Park guides, favorite finds, and the everyday magic that happens when we choose to be present. Most of all, I hope to encourage other families to plan the trip that works for them, whether it's thirty minutes from home or across the country.

Travel matters to me because it reminds us to slow down, learn something new, and appreciate the world around us. Adventure doesn't have to be far away to be meaningful. Sometimes the most memorable moments happen in places we never expected to find them.

So whether you're planning a National Park road trip, navigating travel with little ones, or simply looking for inspiration to create more meaningful memories, I'm glad you're here.

Welcome to Miles & Reverie. Join us as we chase adventure, collect memories, and discover a little more wonder along the way.
